A while ago in a Daybook post I mentioned my music playlists–yes, plural–that I keep in Amazon. When you’re a Prime member, you have access to lots of free music. You can add them to your music library and create playlists with them. This perk of Prime membership has saved me many a soccer road trip when I couldn’t find a good radio station. I have playlists entitled “Good Morning” “Quite” “Work” “Cleaning” “Soccer” “With God” and now that I know I can do this, I’ll be making a “Christmas” playlist very soon. In addition to creating my own, I also take advantage of some of the ones Amazon has created like, “Classical for Studying” “Classical for Writing.” Veronica and I have listened to Pop and Country playlists curated by Amazon while in the car. They even list them as “Clean” which I appreciate. I forgot who asked–it was a bit ago, but someone asked if I could share my music playlists. So here ya go! Oh, almost all these songs are free for Prime Members to add to their Music Library. I’ve only purchased maybe one or two?
One of my favorite songs right now, “Sold Out” by Hawk Nelson is on my “Good Morning” playlist. The little boys and I love to dance around the kitchen in the morning to this one. This song is also on my “Cleaning” and “Soccer” playlists. My Maximilian says it helps him get pumped up for his soccer games. “I Shall Not Want” by Audrey Assad is also on my “Good Morning” playlist. This song is taken from the Litany of Humility and is absolutely beautiful; a great reminder to start the day. “Good to Be Alive” by Andy Grammer is a great song to get stuck in your head first thing in the morning! Because, um, it is good to be alive! “Thrive” by Casting Crowns is a great reminder and a has a good beat–anyone feeling the Dick Clark American Bandstand nostalgia? I just added “To the Moon and Back” by Luke Bryan to our morning playlist. I also have “Dirt” by Florida Georgia Line; it reminds me to appreciate my home. A “Good Morning” playlist for me would not be complete without “How Great Thou Art.” I have the version by Joey and Rory. I’m not sure if this song is free for Prime members? I bought their Hymns CD as soon as it came out. I will most likely wear this CD out because I listen to it so much. Looking at my “Good Morning” playlist I think it’s a good mix reminding me to enjoy each day, exactly where I’m at because it’s a precious gift from God. There’s also some fun and spunk to it!
My “Cleaning” playlist is filled with peppy songs–do the cool kids still use the word “peppy?” This playlist has lots of country on it, old and new. Songs from Hank Williams Jr. to Florida Georgia Line to Charlie Daniels. It has “The House that Built Me” by Miranda Lambert, it seems fitting. It also has some Taylor Swift, Randy Houser, Jason Aldean, John Denver, Third Day and Ed Sheeran. “Thinking Out loud” reminds me of the work I’ve been privileged to and please God get to continue to do for Chris and my children.
My “Work” playlist is an eclectic mix of Christian and classic pop/rock music: Fernando Ortega, Elle Holcomb, JJ Heller, Kari Jobe, Simon and Garfunkel, Joey and Rory, John Michael Talbot, and Lennon and Maisy.
My “With God” playlist is a collection of my favorite songs about God. Rend Collective, Jamie Grace, Crowder, Matt Maher, Hawk Nelson, Big Daddy Weave, Danielle Rose, and Moriah Peters made this playlist. Some songs from this list overlap with my “Work” playlist. I also have a “War” playlist with songs about God but these are more rambunctious songs when I need to be reminded I belong the King of the world and He has already won any and all battles. Rachel Platten’s “Fight Song” made this list as well as Toby Mac’s “Move,” which is also a favorite “Good Morning” kitchen dance song. “Stronger” and “Press On” by Mandisa are on there.
My “Quiet” playlist is filled with instrumentals from Paul Cardall, Steven Sharp Nelson, and David Nevue.
As you can see, my musical taste is definitely varied! You won’t find any Heavy Metal, Rap, Punk or whatever else there is out there. Do you have playlists set up in Amazon? What are some of your favorites?
If you’ve wondered if being a Prime member is worth it? I absolutely think so! Like I mentioned, being able to stream so much free music from Amazon while we’re in the car is a great bonus. Try Amazon Prime 30-Day Free Trial and see if it’s something useful for you and your family.

I also like to organize my playlist according to when I’ll play the music. 🙂
These are really great recommendations.
