Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.
Thanking God for…
::successful surgery–I think? Follow up is this week
::my extremely patient doctor–if he was doubting retirement, he’s not now
::friends who you can ask to pray for bodily functions to resume as normal after surgery
::I cannot even be thankful enough for Chris
::our friends Laurie and Terry staying with Chris during surgery and then Laurie staying with me after surgery–even when I yelled, “I think I might throw up!” We laugh, because we both know I would have knocked her nurse over to get out of that room if the tables would have been turned.
::Anna staying the night with me
::the lovely nurses
::Orlando, the nurse anesthetist who asked if he could pray for me before I went into surgery
::I couldn’t find a pajama set I liked so I bought myself a “Blessed Girl” t-shirt and some sweat pant shorts
Praying…
I have lots of time on my hands right now and the prayers just seem to keep coming. Sometimes they feel so big and overwhelming…Oh, and Luke broke his wrist in a soccer game on Saturday, so there’s that.
Pondering…
Why we always feel we owe people an explanation. I don’t have a huge problem with this, but I know many do. Even just something as simple as, no is a complete sentence. I can tell someone no without having to explain myself.
Listening to…
Leo talk my ear off!
Reading…
I really thought I’d have done more reading by now in my recovery time. But due to surgery and pain medication, I pretty much lost most of last week. So there’s this week right.
Bible Journaling…
I just started back to some simple Bible journaling yesterday. Have you heard of The Loved Bible Project? I came across it on Instagram and LOVE the idea. I picked up a Catholic Women’s Devotional Bible at Goodwill recently and have decided to “love” this Bible for 30 days and then give it away to one of my nieces.
Planner Girl…
I’m using a Mini Happy Planner right now. I started my planning journey last year in a Happy Planner so I’ve come full circle–only smaller. I struggle between which I like better–Happy Planner (mini, classic or big) or Carpe Diem–I love this Marigold color. Do you have a favorite planner?
Around the House…
The kids have stepped up to help me, and now also had to step in to cover some of Luke’s chores. Grace upon grace right now; it will all be there once I’m fully recovered.
In the Kitchen…
Chris cannot grocery shop on his own! We now have 8lbs of salsa, 5lbs of ranch dressing and the largest jar of pickles I’ve ever seen!
Diffusing
I had a bad headache today so I diffused Lavender and Peppermint. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)
A Great Blog Post

Our Domestic Church…
Our Lady of Fatima of course! Here’s a link to Catholic Icing and some ideas for Our Lady of Fatima for kids.
Saving Money…
Having Anna go to the grocery store with Chris, lol! Once the medical bills start coming in I’ll start making calls and seeing if there is a discount for cash or paying in full that day.
Captured…
I’m so happy I painted my toenails right before surgery. They still look pretty and make me happy.

Glad the surgery went well Jenny, thinking of you and praying you to recover soon. I was thinking of you this weekend because we finalized Michael’s adoption on Friday, I thought about inviting you since you were a part of the ceremony we had, but I knew you were going to be having your surgery but I definitely missed you.
Thank you for sharing how everything is going.
Much love to you and your family sister in Christ.
Jenny says
Oh such happy news Claudia! I would have loved to have been there and feel honored you thought of me.

Praying the rosary for you, as you recover Thank you for sharing your “Little Way” with the world. Your words and experiences have been a blessing to me!
Jenny says
Thank you for the recovery prayers Jenny. You are so very welcome for my “Little Way.” I often feel so many of these things are not even worth mentioning, but in hindsight, that’s where I find God was gently leading, teaching and loving on me.
Sherry says
I pray God helps you recover without any complications from your surgery. Bless your dear frinds and your sweet family for what they are doing to help you.
Jenny says
Amen to that Sherry! Thank you for the prayers.
