Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.
Thanking God for…
::continued healing and recovery
::a dr that “gets me”
::Anna laying on my bed with me
::a pond full of water
::severe weather missing us
::calling Chris just in time for him to turn around–he was headed exactly where the small tornado was
::my sister making me laugh
Praying…
I made the mistake of watching a little news, clicking one too many places on the internet. Our kids y’all–suicide, bullying, human trafficking–it doesn’t feel like it sends me to my knees in prayer, it feels more like I’m crushed under the weight of it all. If we are not praying for our kids, we are doing them a HUGE disservice. My prayers have gotten sloppy and inconsistent and I needed this reminder.
Pondering…
“Keep this in mind: only when we are in a state of peace do we have good discernment, see clearly in the various situations that confront us, and find the right remedies for our problems.”

Listening to…
Right now the younger kids are cleaning up the kitchen after dinner (I started this Daybook Sunday evening). I need to get back in the habit of listening to some “poppy” music as Leo calls it, to get my morning going.

Bible Journaling…
I shared a video on Facebook today showing a little Bible journaling/verse mapping. The purpose was to show you don’t need this, that or the other. I used a cheap composition notebook, highlighters, a pen from a hotel we stayed at this year for soccer and I Googled things. The quality is a little poor. I was back in my bedroom and didn’t realize my connection was weak.
Around the House…
The kids have done such a great job while I’ve been recovering. This Friday will be 3 weeks since my surgery and the half way mark in doctor prescribed recovery time. I try to do a little more each day, but not too much.
In the Kitchen…
My sweet friend of almost 20 years and neighbor Kellie brought us spaghetti and meatballs with all the fixens for dinner tonight. She even included those thickly iced sugar cookies from the store!
I mentioned Anna and Chris have been doing the grocery shopping–this past Saturday Anna came home and said she thought Chris would buy grass to eat if it was on sale! They have different shopping styles but I know they are loving the time together.
Diffusing
The spring allergies are attacking a couple of my kiddos so we’ve been diffusing Respiratory Ease in their room at night. During the day I’ve been diffusing Harmony in my bedroom while I rest. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)
A Great Blog Post
Do Positive Affirmations Really Work? I do not endorse everything in this post or on this site, but if you’ve clicked around The Littlest Way, you may have read how I used daily affirmations and scripture affirmations to help me overcome anxiety.
The Littlest Way
During this recovery time, I’ve started working on a Bible Study and Journal for the Book of Tobit. This will be the second in the series following the Book of Sirach. By the way, if you’ve purchased the Sirach study and enjoyed it, would you mind leaving a review on Amazon?
Saving Money…
The first of my hospital bills came in. They are still making their way through insurance–Thanks be to God for insurance! My doctor’s bill plus hospital bill before insurance, comes in just over $40,000 dollars!
On that note, please remember when you shop Amazon through any of my links that lead you over there, I earn a small referral fee…ahem.

Yay! Half way there! Have you ever seen the YouTube video of the gentleman who sings “Livin on a prayer” at the gas station? I never tire of it if it’s posted and laugh out loud every time.
And, you’ve obviously worked through it, but I found the catholic definition of hypocrisy very helpful.
HYPOCRISY
Definition
A form of lying in which a person pretends to have virtues or moral qualities that are not possessed. Its motive is pride and its malice depends on the gravity of the pride and on the evil consequences that follow when people take one to be morally good and, perhaps, entrust one with confidences or responsibilities that are not deserved. It is not hypocrisy, however, to be on one’s best behavior with those whom one justly wishes to impress favorably. Nor is it hypocrisy when a person, because of human weakness, fails to live up to his or her own principles or profession of faith.
