Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
Chris and I are still praying our 9-week novena. I was thinking about prayer the other day. I was thinking how we should be praying for ourselves, our spouse, our children, our friends and our leaders every single day. I was also thinking our prayers should always include five things: I’m sorry, Thank You, Please, Thank You, I love You.
Pondering…
This strange place of mothering a young adult child who lives 1300 miles away and flies home for a visit while mothering a 4-year-old who still likes to sleep in our bed. It’s a very strange place to be.
I’m also pondering a text a friend sent this weekend. With Bernadette home I haven’t given it thorough thought but let me say this, read your Bible. Don’t spend more time reading about the Bible than you do actually reading the Bible. And by Bible, I mean Old Testament as well as New Testament. Don’t be afraid of it. Read it.
Listening to…
My faithful and trusty companions the washer and dryer do their thing. I’m kind of in a quiet space right now. We’ve been sick since January 5th and just as we get over it, Bernadette is here, a baptism to attend and spending time wth my niece and my sister and her family. I’ve pretty much used all my words for the next week or so! All that to say, my music playlist reflects that quiet place–instrumental hymns and reflective piano.

Bible Journaling…
Oh boy! I just saw, order and now have my hands on a Catholic Journaling Bible: New Testament, Psalms, and Proverbs. I’ll do a thorough review this week (below is a quick Facebook flip through video I made) but so far I like this–a lot. It is the Catholic Public Domain Version which I had not heard of so I Googled around for more information:
The CPDV is:
1. translated from the Clementine Latin Vulgate, which has been used by the Church for several hundred years as the preeminent Latin version of the Bible
2. a fairly literal translation, reversing the modern trend of loose paraphrase translations
3. an accurate translation of the Latin text, made using the Challoner Douai Bible as a guide
4. a Roman Catholic translation, in which the Old Testament is translated in the light of the New Testament, and both testaments are translated in the light of Roman Catholic teaching
5. a complete translation, reversing the modern trend to drop words, phrases, and entire verses from the Bible
6. available in an edition that is free from distracting, pedantic, and faithless footnotes
7. translated by a believing and practicing Roman Catholic (no Protestants worked on this translation)
8. free from the imposition of gender-neutral or inclusive language; free from the imposition of political correctness
9. entirely free from copyrights, trademarks, and other restrictions; anyone may copy, print, publish, and use this translation online or offline
10. available online for free; download it or use it from the website at SacredBible.org
Around the House…
Last night was our Epiphany House Blessing! It was supposed to be last week but we were all sick so we moved it. I wish it could have been earlier so Bernadette could be here. A priest who lives in residence with our priest came and blessed us, sang to us and prayed the Our Father for us in Swahili. It was beautiful!
In the Kitchen…
Left over meatloaf tonight–one of my favorite foods. Since we were all sick last week we didn’t have my birthday cake and ice cream. I’m so happy because we were able to have it with Bernadette this weekend when she was in town.

Stop Calling Kids Nasty Names
My sister and a couple friends are Foster/Adoptive parents. I have heard stories y’all. One of the questions I ask my sister, “How can these little kids study for spelling tests or read books or play, with all this ‘stuff’ going on around them and at them?!?”
The Littlest Way
Last week I shared my over-eager, ultra-ambitious 2017 Reading List. But more importantly, I shared how I am going to try to refrain from buying any books this year–Lord help me.
Our Domestic Church…
Saturday the 21st is the Feast of St. Agnes.
Saving Money…
Well, not buying any books this year should help, lol!

I went and looked and those journaling Bibles are sold out. Bummer!

Amanda, I’m sure they will get them back in quickly. I mention in the Facebook video I made showing the inside of the Bible, I believe this is an Amazon printed and published book–meaning print on demand. Also, there are some printing errors so maybe they pulled them to correct that.

Excited to hear about the Catholic bible journal. Attached is the link to my first daybook post at Pine Hill Farm Family.
