Welcome to my weekly Daybook post here at The Littlest Way. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
A local family–a lovely Christian family with huge hearts and lots of children, the last 4 adopted with special needs–lost their 21-year-old in a fatal car accident as she was driving to work early Friday morning. The dad has been our UPS man for 12 years and our children all take piano from the same instructor. My heart hurts and my mind is numb. I think of her siblings–her little sisters will not grow up knowing her. I think of her family–they probably already bought her Christmas gifts and hung her stocking.
Pondering…
I’m pondering the things I want to do differently and need to/have to do differently. I confessed the other day some of my faults in my home and in raising my children due to sloth or negligence right now. Father asked if I had a plan to get back on track. “Yes Father, yes I do; an 8-week plan to be exact.”
Listening to…
The space heater humming in here with me in the office and Anna reading to Chris and the kids in the livingroom. Musically, I’m listening to “It is Well with My Soul.”
Dayspring has this BE.U.TI.FUL necklace I would love to have–It is Well with My Soul Too bad I already ordered my Christmas gift from Chris and the kids. You know I write about Daily Affirmations because I believe they keep me focused on the good, true and beautiful regardless of what life’s circumstances. “It is well with my soul” absolutely qualifies as a daily affirmation!

Eat That Frog!: 21 Great Ways to Stop Procrastinating and Get More Done in Less Time
40 Days to a Joy-Filled Life: Living the 4:8 Principle
Chris and I are reading this together every morning. I have told y’all how Daily Affirmations, keeping a gratitude journal, and reading the scriptures helped me when I was struggling with some serious anxiety and negative thinking. I get frequent emails from women thanking me for speaking about my struggles, sharing what helped me, and explaining to me how doing the same things are helping them now.

Around the House…
I try not to be a tyrant around the house. I do not expect our home, filled with 8 people, to look perfect and immaculate and like we have a cleaning lady. But a couple of times a year the general standards of the house seem to really slip–we are living in one of those times. Time to talk about who cleans what and when and how again.
In the Kitchen…
If you follow me on Instagram, you know I have finally found a tea I love–Twinings French Vanilla Chai. I add a little Pyure Stevia sweetener and a touch of cream–yummy!
Diffusing
I appreciate essential oil companies having Holiday Scents, but can’t you just buy a cheap candle for that? I am brand new to the essential oil game and I use them daily, but I also try to get the most bang for my buck. You can read about how I got started with them here–Where I’m From. If I’m wrong, please don’t take offense. I’m not telling you not to enjoy your Holiday scented oils. All that being said, I’ve been diffusing and wearing Joy this week.
A Great Blog Post
On The Importance Of People Who Encourage Instead Of Criticize
Having children is a humbling, arduous journey. The longer I’m a parent and the more children I have, the more I realize that what other parents most need is encouragement. We don’t need unsolicited advice or commentary on what someone else thinks we’re doing wrong. We need mentors who have been where we are and can encourage us to stay the course. We need other wiser parents who acknowledge how hard it is to be a good parent and who can share their imperfections and struggles with us. We need people to share their insight and wisdom and tell us everything is going to work out.

Our Domestic Church…
Yesterday we decorated our Christmas tree–the Third Sunday of Advent, Gaudete Sunday or Rejoice Sunday. Today is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe so we’ll have Mexican for dinner, yum! Tuesday is the Feast of St. Lucy and that’s the night we drive around and look at Christmas lights.
Saving Money…
Would you believe me if I told you we waited until yesterday to order our Christmas cards so we could save money? Or would you believe Luke busted his lip on the tractor and it finally healed so we could take our family Christmas pictures yesterday?
