This month we are reading, writing, praying, and studying Proverbs 31 (by popular request)! As we learn more about the Proverbs 31 woman, but more importantly about ourselves, let’s keep this beautiful quote I read concerning this chapter. It’s addressing the idea that this chapter is laying out rules or rails that need to be followed in order to be holy, in order to be a “Proverbs 31 Woman;” [The author is] “not building arguments like Paul in Romans, but stringing pearls.”
Take heart my sisters, this chapter is not a series of “Look at her! Why can’t you be like here?” Rather it’s an example of a woman of virtue, and valor—a countercultural woman. I have a pretty good hunch most, if not all of us are probably already on the other side of the culture. Read with a heart open to encouragement, not expecting discouragement or punishment.
