Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I had posted on Facebook this weekend about a show on Netflix that is so crude and vile it’s disturbing. It reminded me that I cannot pray hard enough for my children, their friends, and future spouses.
Pondering…
Minimilism from a Catholic stand point. My blogging friend Sterling has written a new book, Not Of This World: A Catholic Guide to Minimalism I cannot wait to read this. She’s a Catholic, momma, momma of littles; I’m really interested in reading her viewpoint on minimalism.
I constantly feel like we have too much stuff. But we’re a large family. How does minimalism and large family living mesh? I mean, if we each only had one outfit a day to wear per week, that would equal 11 undergarments per day, 8 pants/skirts per day, 8 shirts per day x 7 days =189 pieces of clothing a week. Well, we wouldn’t have 7 different pairs of pants, so maybe less, but you see what I’m saying.
Listening to…
The washing machine, Veronica cough, and Anna visiting with me off and on. As I’m writing the next Bible study plus working on a new blog series, I’ve been listening to Noisli. It has different background white noises for productivity or relaxation.

And I’m listening to The Sacrament of Happy: What a Smiling God Brings to a Wounded World via Hoopla while I walk on the treadmill or crochet.
Bible Journaling…
I shared a post recently about the new Advent Bible Journaling Kit from Dayspring and Illustrated Faith. I cannot wait to use this in the different ways I listed! Life just got busy and hectic right after the beginning of this year and stopped journaling in my Bible and I stopped enjoying my planner and my mind and soul have missed those things. So this weekend, I sat down and enjoyed planning out the week ahead using some of my Bible journaling supplies. I’m back! And rather than be too hard on myself, I granted myself grace and realized, we had the flu in March and I had major surgery in April. It’s ok that things fell by the wayside and it’s taking time to pick them back up.
Around the House…
I thoroughly cleaned our bedroom this week and it makes me so happy!
In the Kitchen…
I received my new Trim Healthy Mama cookbook last week and LOVE it! So far I’ve made meals and all have been a huge hit! And I’ve used my Instant Pot to make them…win/win all around. So far we’ve had:
Cheesy Chicken Spaghetti Casserole p. 120
Beans and Cornbread p. 111
Chicken Fajita Soup p. 90
Cheesy Bread Sticks or Pizza Crust–we made the crust p. 252
Self Care
I was starting to get frustrated with myself last week for a variety of reasons. Then I decided to give myself a pep-talk like I was one of y’all. I reminded myself I just had major surgery almost 5 months ago, my body is still in the process of healing and adjusting. I just spent last week worrying about my oldest facing Hurricane Irma and now Maria might be headed her way. My head is swimming with ACT tests and college entrance and NAIA stuff, Chris’ allergies are the worst in September so he’s in survival mode, our parish is going through some major changes and is in transition, I signed up to go to–I mean fly to a blogging conference…in New Orleans…for 3 days…and room with someone I don’t know–talk about totally out of this girl’s comfort zone, and soccer season has started for 6 children. I’m doing ok. Plus, I haven’t been using my oils, especially Harmony, lately. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)

Our Domestic Church…
October is the month dedicated to the Most Holy Rosary, start thinking and searching for ways to make this month and this intention special.
Saving Money…
I went through my pantry the other day before I ran to the store. I put items together to make meals, threatened anyone who ate a key ingredient before I could make the meal. I figured I had about $132 to spend and ended up spending $127.
