Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.
Thanking God for…
::a happy Thanksgiving
::reminders that I have made the right decision when it comes to some very hard choices
::a friendly lunch date on Saturday
::good night’s sleep
::quiet
::Kombucha
::my children’s personalities and temperaments
::old friendships
Praying…
I have something so fun for you! I created a 52 Week Bible and Prayer Journal. One side has room for prayer intentions and date answered. I am so bad at “date answered,” and this is really a disservice to me and God. The bottom of the page has room for at least 24 things you’re thankful for. I did the math and if you filled out only 24 a week, by the end of the year you would have a gratitude list of 1,248!
Pondering…
I’m pondering prayer. The ways and means, how we get in our way and discourage ourselves. How the enemy steals our prayer time and ways we can guard it.
Listening to…
A quiet house and the dog barking outside, Advent at Ephesus.
Reading…
The One Year Bible – Catholic: NLT I actually love this translation so much I just ordered this Bible. The one I’m reading is broken down into a section of Old and New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs each day. I wanted this translation in a “straight through” Bible.
I pulled out my copy of my Daily Advent Devotional (FREE if you don’t have your Advent reading yet!) and I’ll be reading along with Rooted in Hope as well.
Bible Journaling…
I am so excited! Blessed is She and Our Sunday Visitor has a Catholic Journaling Bible coming soon! You can pre-order now.
Happy Planner Girl
I’ve been doing a short series on planners to help you decide if you need one and which one for the New Year. I’ve shared the Recollections Hourly (a great substitute for the more expensive Erin Condren or Simplified planner) and the Illustrated Faith planner.
Around the House…
I am having such a hard time this year purchasing Christmas gifts. I look around my house and I think, “We don’t need one more blessed thing!” Has anyone else had this problem once they’ve started really evaluating what you have and what you need and especially what you don’t need?
In the Kitchen…
This has been a camping/hunting week so we’ve eaten at irregular times and in a “fend for yourself” mindset right now.
Self Care
I ate too much junk over Thanksgiving–and by too much, I mean even just a little here and there can shake me. I had some unexpected conversations about old wounds and just the whole out of routine has caused me to remember to take care of myself. We’re important ladies and if we don’t take care of ourselves, we will eventually not be able to take care of others. is always talking about the benefits of Frankincense so I’ve pulled mine out. Lavender is always a great idea and so is Goodnight. If you aren’t an Amazon Prime member with free shipping, you can order directly from Edens Garden and get free shipping in the US.(
You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)

Our Domestic Church…
Today is the Feast of St. Catherine Laboure–she is best known associated with the Miraculous Medal. Etsy has some lovely Miraculous Medal items from jewelry to home decor and books. Plus, when you use Ebates, you earn 1% cashback on all your purchases. And if you’re new to Ebates, there’s an extra $10 incentive.
Saving Money…
I have been using Ebates like a woman on a mission. I check my list of things to buy and then check Ebates to see if they have a participating store. The answer is usually “Yes.” Last night I order a couple things from Ebay and Shutterfly and used Ebates both times.
Captured…
Leo wanted to have a tea party the other day and invite all his siblings. The older girls used to have tea parties all the time. We should resurrect them.

I love to read this weekly because it gets me ‘caught up’ on my neighbor’s family! Is that wrong we keep in touch with each other through the blogs? 😀 I’m sure we’re not the only ones…..
