Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.
Thanking God for…
::a husband who gets it (at least a lot of the time)
::kids who forgive me
::the Church
::grace
::Advent
::confession and penance
::Our Lady of Sorrows
Praying…
I’m pretty sure God is wondering how many more intentions I’ll add to my St. Andrew Novena each night. There are just so many things and so many people who need prayer. And no one really explained to me the burden of praying for older children. Not that praying for them is a burden, just that the prayers for them are of so much more consequence.
Pondering…
“Yet woman will be saved through bearing children, if she continues in faith and love and holiness, with modesty.” 1 Timothy 2:15
Listening to…
It is Well With My Soul by Kristene DiMarco & Bethel Music. This is my go-to song when I need to be reminded. I need to be reminded.
Reading…
The One Year Bible – Catholic: NLT
I’ve been listening to Liturgy of the Ordinary: Sacred Practices in Everyday Life as I fold laundry. I think it’s a pleasant pairing–this book and my laundry folding. If you don’t have Audible, try Audible now and get two free audiobooks
Bible Journaling…
The kids are using my Bible Journaling supplies from the Advent Kit from Illustrated Faith to make handmade Christmas cards and gift tags for all the pans of cinnamon rolls Veronica will make again this year.
Around the House…
It’s been cold here this past week so the fireplace has been running steadily. I love that our fireplace is vented in the ceilings to the bedrooms. We exclusively heat our home with our fireplace for this reason.
In the Kitchen…
Have I already mentioned that Walmart Online Grocery Shopping may be my favorite thing from 2017? At least in my Top 5. (Order fresh groceries and more online and Walmart will load your car for you… FREE. Here’s $10 to try it.) In other news, this week is Pioneer Woman Cinnamon Roll week and pretzel dipping week.
Self Care
I had a rough Sunday morning. After church, I came home, locked myself in my bedroom and diffused Goodnight while I tried to recollect myself. Edens Garden Goodnight blend is like Peace and Calming from Young Living or Serenity from doTerra. (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Edens Garden instead of a distributor. And Edens Garden is always FREE SHIPPING in the US)
Natural Cuffs…
Chris and the kids have been making all leather cuffs. Some have been made from all leather belt ends while others have been made from strips of leather Chris cuts in unique, one of a kind design and then Bridget stains them to look like wood.

2016 How We Paid Off Our House in 6 Years
2015 A Daybook post with a great photo of Chris and me with the kids behind us. I had forgotten about this picture!
2014 Daily Affirmations: I Choose Joy (or horses as we call it in our family!)
Our Domestic Church…
The 12th is the Feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe. Our family tradition is to have a Mexican meal on this night–I’m thinking enchiladas this year; Trim Healthy Mama of course! The 13th is the Feast of St. Lucy. We traditionally go out to eat at a restaurant–a rarity for us since we’re a large family–and then drive around and look at Christmas lights.
Saving Money…
I’ve earned $35.40 this Christmas shopping season so far through Ebates. Sign up now and get $10. This has come through purchases from Shutterfly, Snapfish, Ebay, and Etsy. We still use Ibotta to earn money or save money on our groceries; over $200 in lifetime earnings the past couple of years!

I love the idea of Mexican food for the feast of Our Lady of Guadalupe!
