Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I continue to pray for the local family who lost their beautiful daughter. Anna and I went to the funeral. Hard, hard, hard.
I’m continuing prayer for Chris. Of course prayers for my children.
I’m praying for my “Word for the Year” and some clear direction. I run a home, a homeschool and a small business–I need to do all things in their appropriate time and well. These things are the motivation behind my commitment to “Make Over”…my year, evenings, and mornings.
Pondering…
Mothering an adult child living 1,341 miles away–all the way down to a 4 old who still sleeps with us most nights. I’m also pondering The Littlest Way as a creative outlet and ministry of encouragement that can help my family financially.

Reading…
I love my large print Bible, but the last week I have been using the New Jerusalem Bible, Reader’s Edition. It has nice sturdy “paper” pages, not crinkly Bible pages. It also has some roominess for Bible journaling.

Bible Journaling…
Last week when I got the urge to run to Hobby Lobby for some Bible journaling supplies I decided “No.” I get in there and spend more than I need to–time and money. I decided for 2017 I would only use the Illustrated Faith supplies, in particular, the monthly kits. They really do have everything–I know I keep saying that, but I’m surprised they are all I need: ink pad, sticker, stamps, washi tape and pretty clips.
Around the House…
We have just a little bit to save so we can get our shower tiled. Remember back in the Fall when water was seeping through the floor and Chris had to tear the shower out–down to the studs! Thank God for Youtube videos! Between watching our money and using the Christmas money our dad’s each gave us, we are pretty close to being able to pay for it. We got an estimate a month ago and the guy told us he couldn’t do it until after the first of the year–which worked out for us anyway.
In the Kitchen…
I’m going to try use what we have in the freezer and pantry this week. One of our Christmas traditions is to eat snacky food on Christmas Eve so I will need to grocery shop sometime this week. We eat cinnamon rolls Veronica has made on Christmas morning, light lunch and then dinner with Chris’ family.

How My Son Taught Me What Offering It Up Really Means
My brave son reminded me in that moment that “Offering It Up” isn’t just some trite Catholic phrase, but real, heroic action — an opportunity to embrace life’s annoyances for the souls most in need.

I’m still working on cleaning up the navigation menu so it’s easier to find things. I think I finally found the blog colors and fonts that make me happy every time I open my site. And I’m working on updating some older posts–sprucing them up and giving them new life.
Our Domestic Church…
It’s the last week of Advent. The good intentions I had the first week but let them slip away? I’m revisiting them this week.
Saving Money…
I’ve been using Ebates the last month as I’ve gone about my regular shopping and Christmas shopping. I used it to rent a car when we drove to Texas for soccer–Chris was afraid one of our cars would give me trouble. I’ve used it Amazon, Etsy, Shutterfly when I ordered our Christmas cards/pictures and Old Navy. I now have a balance of almost $10! $10 may not seem like much, but when you consider these were things I was going to buy anyway, all I had to do was click the little Ebates icon on my coupon and earn 1-5% on my purchases–$10 is a lot! If you want to try them out–and I’m not sure why you wouldn’t, click here to use my referral code.
