Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
We have had 2 funerals in the last 2 weeks at our small parish–that’s 2 families hurting. The funeral I attended yesterday was for a friend my age, with children my children’s age–hard stuff y’all. On the way to the funeral we listened to an awesome sermon on the Rosary, Rosary: Spiritual Weapon
Pondering…
“We have both a divine task and a divine purpose. Our supreme ‘purpose’ is to glorify God. Our supreme ‘task’ is to evangelize the lost.” This pondering contains my One Word for the Year so I’m especially attuned to it. This pondering is from “The Hour That Changes the World: A Practical Plan for Personal Prayer,” a book on my 2017 Reading List Although not a Catholic author, so far not anything anti-Catholic, as a matter of fact, the author has a great explanation for repetitive prayer–a common Protestant argument against the Rosary.
Listening to…
The oven. Bernadette came home for the funeral and I bought all the ingredients for her to make us stir fry for dinner. I’m cooking the chicken now. I’m also listening to me–I’ve run myself down spiritually and emotionally–that’s not good.

Around the House…
Anna and Chris do a fantastic job of keeping the house running when Veronica and I travel. I’m looking around though and all of us keeping the house running is starting to show–my home needs some serious TLC.
In the Kitchen…
Bernadette is making stir fry tonight and the rest of the week I’ll wing it–that always works out well right? LOL!
Diffusing
The last couple of days I’ve been mixing Joy with Lemon.
A Great Blog Post
I was pretty consistent in staying away from the computer so I don’t have anything to share this week. If you read something worhtwhile, interesting, and encouraging this past week, please drop a link in the comments.
The Littlest Way
I appreciate your grace while I took a much-needed break from the internet.
I am a Planner Girl
I have started carrying a Travelers Notebook and love it! I have been carrying the Websters Pages Travelers Notebook in Walnut–this is my calendar/planner and wallet all in one. I’ll make a video soon showing you how I have it arranged. I had Veronica make some pretty bling for it–see the Instagram picture below.
Our Domestic Church…
This Saturday is the 16th Anniversary of my Total Consecration! I reread this book every year to renew my consecration and Veronica uses this book–she and I made our Consecrations on the same day, years apart.
The 11th is also the Feast of Our Lady of Lourdes. And this Sunday begins the liturgical preparation for Lent, Septuagesima Sunday.
Saving Money…
When Veronica and I traveled this time, I had Anna make us some bean and cheese quesadillas. We wrapped them in foil and put them in an ice chest. These made a great snack or lunch on the road saving us driving time and money.
Captured…
*Chris forced me into the field for a walk yesterday evening–I took my camera and enjoyed every minute of it.

Well, I had written a comment and it chose to fly the coop to ether Land! I will try again.
I have been reflecting on your comments re the sermon you heard using a flashlight as an illustration. It made me think of the passage in Ecclesiastes 3:1-8…to every thing there is a season, a time to be born, a time to die, a time to plant, a time to pluck that which is planted, a time to kill and a time to heal, etc. Life is rarely fully one thing then the other, but often all of it going on at once in varying degrees. My knee jerk response to being totally drained by life is to withdraw and try to recharge fully before engaging again. But I think God has designed us more like a cell phone or iPad. You can be charging it and using it at the same time. So, what we need to do is keep ourselves plugged into our Source even when we feel overwhelmed by all that we are called to…marriage, motherhood, serving our Lord through the church and into the world.
So, what recharges you? For me, nature is a great recharger, especially if I can get near water or forests. Sacred music quickly restores my soul, time for regular prayer, Bible study, reading the classic works of the Saints, attending Mass definitely keep me plugged into our Source.
You remain in my prayers. You are a bright light shining in this lost and darkening world. Be Bold. Be Strong. For the Lord our God is with you.
In His Love and For His Sake,
Stacey

Oh Stacey this is so very good. I love the comparison to being able to charge while still serving…as long as we’re plugged into our power Source.
