Welcome to the Daybook Journal. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

I’m praying work goes smoothly on the Lent Devotional for Women so it’s ready as daily posts during Lent and also a downloadable ebook for email subscribers like the Advent Devotional. If you’re enot an email subscriber go ahead and click here.
Pondering…
“Success comes down to this–being appropriate in the moments of your life.”
•The ONE Thing: The Surprisingly Simple Truth Behind Extraordinary Results
This reminds me of a quote my former spiritual father used to always say. I think he was quoting St. Thomas Aquinas? “Do what you are doing well.” Meaning, if you’re reading your Bible, do that well. If you’re taking a hot bubble bath to ease stress, yes, even do that well.
Listening to…
I need a good playlist for when I walk on the treadmill. Which by the way, read below in the “Saving Money” prompt about my new to me tradmill.

In Conversation with God: Meditations for Each Day of the Year, Vol. 3: Ordinary Time, Weeks 1-12
I just started reading this new to me devotional. I like it so far. I do not like them calling this season “Ordinary Time” though.
Bible Journaling…
I am working on a verse mapping tutorial video to share with you. I gave a sneak peek on my Instagram account today.
Around the House…
It is cold…kids are inside all the blessed day long…enough said.
In the Kitchen…
I love the Jalapeno Popper soup recipe in the Trim Healthy Mama cookbook! Not only is it delicious, it makes a lot! In other news, Chris had one of our cows butchered a couple fo months ago and has been trying all the different cuts–for research purposes of course, lol! He wanted to know what the meat looked and tasted like and how the butchering process went before we started selling some meat. We’re getting ready to have two butchered to sell in sides.
Self Care
You can see in the Instagram story above what I’m diffusing right now, a mixture of Lavender, Peppermint, and Frankincense. I love the smell (by the way, every time I say or write “I love…” I can hear our priest friend reply, “Well, I love Jesus, but you can love whatever you want.” Oh he was such a tormentor! (You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon or Edens Garden instead of a distributor. If you’re not an Amazon Prime member with FREE shipping, Edens Garden has FREE shipping all the time in the US.)
The Littlest Way
I am so excited for our free Lent Devotional for Women! So excited. And this is not anything against the Devotionals for Lent others are putting out. This is just me saying, like I mentioned in a previous post maybe? I know the feeling of wanting to buy the newest devotional everyone is posting pictures of and raving about, and not being able to. And going into Lent feeling like everyone “else can and I never can,” is a rotten way to start a tough liturgical season. So, join us here at The Littlest Way and make sure you are an email friend so you’ll know when some bonus devotional things, like the verse mapping, are happening and we’ll probably meet at least once a week in a private Facebook group. Again, sign up so when all that is finalized, you’ll be in the know.
Our Domestic Church…
If you follow the new Church calendar, you might not be aware that this liturgical season used to be called the time after the Epiphany and it lasts until the “Pre-Lent” Sundays known as Septuagesima Sunday, Sexagesima Sunday, Quinquagesima Sunday and finally the First Sunday of Lent. That’s how close the first Sunday of Lent is, five Sundays away.
Saving Money…
My old bought used, treadmill stopped working the week before I left on my birthday trip to Florida. When I came home Chris had not been able to fix it so I started looking for another “new to me” treadmill on Craigslist. I found one and Chris and the boys went to pick it up. It was advertised for $75. Chris took cash, put $75 in one pocket and $60 in the other. After he tried the treadmill out to make sure it worked, he asked the seller if he would take $60 cash. The seller agreed and Chris pulled out the $60. I stink at negotiations, unlike my husband! This is the nicest, smoothest, quietest treadmill we’ve ever owned!

Just a little aside regarding essential oils – if you have cats, please do not diffuse the oils with the cat in the same room. Essential oils are poisonous to cats; they can’t metabolize them and can get very sick from them. If you wish to diffuse oils, please put your cat in a separate room while doing this.

Thanks for the heads up but we don’t have cats. We don’t have inside animals at all. All the animals around here live outside 🙂

Question about your ‘mama blend’…do you use equal amounts of each? Love your blog!
Jenny says
Hi Patty. Here’s my totally unscientific blend. My roller bottle holds 10ml so I filled it with Jojoba oil, added 2 drops of Lavender and 2 drops of Peppermint plus 3-4 of Frankincense. If I were the only one using it I may have upped each one a drop but since my children, the youngest is 5, uses it also, I kept it on the low side. In the diffuser I use 3 Lavender, 3 Peppermint, and 5 Frankincense.

Thanks Jenny! I live in the frozen north and we have been having alot of below zero weather which I hope is why the flu isn’t quite as wide spread here as in other states (there’s gotta be some positive note to freezing!) But, nevertheless I know it’s out there and I want to do all I can to boost everyone’s immunity. So thanks again, I’m going to use your recipe and keep the diffuser going. God bless you and stay healthy!
