Welcome to the Daybook. A weekly post here at The Littlest Way where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what Iβm reading or listening to, eating, cleaning, and learning. These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life and I want to remember them. My prompts may change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
I’m praying for me. I waffle between peace and anxiety with my upcoming surgery. I’m not worried about the physical recovery, I’m concerned with the mental. I mention frequently how much I have struggled with my mind in the past and I don’t want to disturb the balance I’ve found.
Pondering…
I listened to a talk the other day about priorities. My first priority is God, followed by Chris, my children and then my home. Everything else is after that–if there is time for anything else.

Around the House…
I need to order a shower curtain. I’m thinking about this hookless one. When we had our shower re-tiled, Chris had them extend the tile out a little farther to protect the walls. Our shower also has a little lip, maybe six inches tall. I did not want shower doors re-installed because I hate them. Given the lip and extended tile, I thought we could do a shower curtain? Do you have a shower curtain that you love?

So I’ve been reading up on oils and I keep coming across information that you should not apply them “neat” that is, straight on your skin. Other than the obvious possible irritation, these articles mention becoming sensitized to the oils. What do you think or know?
(You can read here why I purchase my essential oils from Amazon instead of a distributor.)

A Spring Self-Care Tip to Help You Breathe
“Our bodies serve us so well. They have carried life, served others, walked us through years of trials and joys, worked, laughed, made love. We rise and stretch, hug and nurture, bend and bounce the babies. We can find joy that our bodies house our hearts and souls, a dwelling place for Christ through His Spirit.”

I did have a little theme going on over on my Instagram account but the last 6 pictures, I’ve gotten away from it. What do you think? Theme or no theme?
Our Domestic Church…
I used to make pretzels with my kids on Friday’s in Lent. I have not made pretzels on Friday’s in Lent in almost 10 years. I did this past Friday and all the kids–teens to five year old loved it!
Saving Money…
You may be tired of hearing me talk about Ibotta, that’s ok, I’m going to mention it again. I went grocery shopping the other day with my usual list. I bought Nutella and Dove shampoo plus my other items. Ibotta had a $2 rebate on the Nutella and a $2 rebate on the shampoo plus .25 on any other item. $4.25 back from my grocery trip–that paid for my gas y’all. Click here to sign up for Ibotta.

Hello my Sweet Friend! Holding you up in prayer…for a quick and smooth recovery, for the surgeon’s steady hands, and that your family be kind and gracious while you’re out of pocket.

Lovely prayers my friend. Thank you.

Just wanted to say thank you for what you do! You’re changing and improving many lives…mine included. β€
Jenny says
Thank you so much! I appreciate the time you took to leave a comment, especially today. Your comment comes on the heels of another calling me a “sneaky Christian blogger phishing for emails.”

Light and Peace: Instructions for Devout Souls…looks interesting.

One of my favorite books! It’s a continual read.
Nikki says
I prefer to dilute essential oils, I’ve always read that you should so I’m to scared to use it straight.
Jenny says
So how do you dilute if you just want to put a dab here or there for a lovely smelling “perfume?”
Nikki says
I’ve mixed it with my body lotion but I’ve never just dabbed.

Aww, thanks Patty. I’m happy you’re here π

What a beautiful post. I love your music you listen to. I am praying for your upcoming surgery. I am also praying that your anxiety will lessen and you will have piece of mind while you prepare for surgery. I also am praying that the family will be healthy and no illness will come your way.
God bless you and your family,
Marcie
Jenny says
Wow! Thanks for all the prayers Marcie π I’m hoping after the surgery I’ll get back to our FB group.
Dawn D says
As usual, a beautiful and honest post. Thanks for your inspiration, Jenny. God Bless!
Jenny says
Oh thank you Dawn for such a kind compliment.

Thank you, Jenny, for linking to my blog post! Daybooks are always such a joy to read. Thanks for sharing yours.
Jenny says
Of course! I’ve only begun clicking around your little place. You’re speaking my heart momma β₯

I love your morning prayers. Thank you for generously sharing them with us. I struggle with words for prayer since I relied on traditional rote prayer for so many years (most of my life quite honestly) so I continually search for the words I long to pray that mean what I feel! I love “hanging out” here!
Jenny says
I am so happy you’re here Annette! I like a mix of rote, more formal and silent prayer. Sometimes, all I can come up with is, “Please…Thank You…You know what I need…HELP!”
Alex says
First off I don’t think you can become desensitized to oils and if you could diluting them wouldn’t change that….
Also just started following you and discovering lots of little things we have in common. Thanks for inspiring me this morning π
Jenny says
Welcome, welcome Alex! Thanks for that; I am so new to oils and holy smokes there is a lot of conflicting info out there!
Claudia says
Hi Jenny, since you have done so much research, can you recommend something for allergies? I had to put Michael on allergy medication because he has been so miserable for about 4 months now, I hate it but it has helped. But I also know that there are oils that can be deffused that could help, do you know of any?
I have tried to do a bible journal, I am horrible at it. I don’ t keep up with it and then I end up feeling so guilty because I stop doing it so I just have let that go. You make it look like so much fun so I have been thinking about it and praying about it.
Jenny says
As far as allergies for little ones, I have not looked into that. Have you been to the site “Wellness Mama?” She may have some info. Bible journaling–I’m hot and cold too Claudia. I’ve made peace with myself that I’ll do it when I can.
Kelly says
Jenny, we have a hookless shower curtain (different brand from the one you linked & no “window” at the top). We really like it as it is so much easier to maintain. I usually wash it weekly and hang back up to dry. It is easy to take down, easy to put on, and we don’t need a liner. I first saw this type of shower curtain at a hotel years ago and appreciated the concept so much that I started looking for one when I got home to replace ours.
Jenny says
Yes! That’s where I got my idea from hotels and then I saw another blogger say the same thing.
Angela F says
Jenny, I’m praying for you! I haven’t tried Bible journaling yet; you make it look so do-able. Thanks for the offer!
Jenny says
Bible journaling is totally doable! I have found one of the keys is keep your eyes on your own work! Comparison seems to run rampant and kills the whole experience and frustrates that precious time with God.
Gail says
I totally understand thr pre surgery anxiety as I will be headed for foot surgery in a few weeks. Right now I’m trying to get everything done for home and work since I will be non weight bearing for 6 weeks. I would love to win the bible journal so I can spend time with God during my recovery and strengthen that relationship and keep my focus on Him and not feel sorry for me.
Jenny says
Oh man prayers for your upcoming surgery. I totally get the “not feeling sorry” for yourself, especially after a surgery. On the other hand, patience and grace, I hear recovery from any surgery is a delicate balance.
