Welcome to my weekly post, Daybook Online Journal. This is a post where I gather all the ordinary things that happen or are happening in my day to day. Things like what I’m reading or listening to…eating and cleaning and learning…These are the small moments that make up my blessed daily life; and I want to remember them. I would love to read your Daybook Online Journal, just leave it in the comments section below. You can use my prompts or make up your own to include items important to you; mine change depending on season and circumstance.

Praying…
Do you ever feel like, “What am I not praying for?!” Yea, me too.
Pondering…
I’m pondering Sarah’s “Spiral Thing.” I read the post when she wrote it and liked it. I listened to Sarah in a podcast over the weekend over on The Art of Simple where she and Tsh talked briefly about the spiral method. SOLD! I am so doing this. I am tired of telling and repeating…forgetting and neglecting the things we need to do. I can do this…we can do this.
Listening to…
nothing. It is very early here. I’ve been working on getting to bed early so I can get up early. Typically, I get tired around prayer/bedtime which is 9pm(ish) but as soon as the kids are in bed (and by kids and 9pm(ish) I am of course talking about my younger group of children. The teens, well, they are teens). But as soon as the house gets quiet, I get a second wind and decide I’m never going to bed! And I pay for that decision in the morning when the younger set is up and ready to go.

Around the House…
So today is the first day of using our spirals…see above. I’m hopeful as I was filling in their pages last night. Our routines have just slipped in this season we are in right now. I need to gain some ground on that before school starts. I think tentatively we are planing on starting August 24th.
In the Kitchen…
I’m going to tell you about my sister’s kitchen today. She told me a little over a week ago she started Trim Healthy Mama and has been Pepsi free, at the time of our talking, for over 8 days. If you knew my sister, you would know how HUGE this is. HUGE!
In my own kitchen, I’ve been gleaning recipes from Briana Thomas, Mrs. Criddles Kitchen, Darcie’s Dishes and The Coers Family.
Captured…
Did you see Sunday’s post? It’s a new series of posts I’m running called “Sunday Quotes.” I’ve picked my camera back up. And by camera I mean either phone or big girl camera. I’ve missed taking a picture for the sake of capturing signs of grace.
Looks pretty ordinary huh? To me it shows the grace of my vocation. I had gotten up from my Bible reading to move laundry around. Behind me there is some sort of semi controlled chaos going on (not even an oxymoron if you’re a momma) and my smoothie has two straws…everything is grace.

These posts are always so much fun to read. I like the little glimpses into someone else’s life.

Your “listening to” thoughts remind me so much of our life around here. Our morning rising time is always scattered, but if I could stop catching that second wind and get to bed much earlier, my morning prayer time would be so much more peaceful and fruitful. When I am tired, I don’t pray or reflect well. Thank you for sharing. Blessings to you during the week ahead.

Amen. I’m right there with you Dawn.

And We can see you in the tea kettle! What a nice surprise! Really lovely reflection – I will have to check out the spiral thing because our chaos has slipped beyond controlled into pure summertime chaos! Still pondering your musings on minimalism with seven kids…I’d love to be there too.

OK, we are 4 days into spiraling so I’m kind of an expert, lol! It is working! I am using one for myself as well. I just sit down and list out everything I need to do for the day. If I don’t get it done, I move it to the next day. Same for the kids, although since it is summer, I try to keep their lists to the minimum.
